Creating production tasks manually

You can create production tasks manually. Use this option if you do not want to create multiple production tasks at once. Otherwise, follow guidelines described in Generating production tasks.

To create a production task manually:

  1. Go to Production
  2. Under Production, click Production tasks.
  3. In the toolbar, click Create.
  4. Enter or select the following:
    Field Description
    Work in progress A work in progress document that a production task is related to. When you select the document, its details are populated to the production task tabs.
    Note. The Components tab is not editable. It is for reference purposes only.
    Start date (under Scheduled) The planned start date and time of a production task. It is populated from the selected work in progress document. You can edit it.
    Note. The planned start date and time do not affect the production schedule. To learn more about production planning, see Production planning.
    Due date (under Scheduled) The planned end date and time of a production task. It is populated from the selected work in progress document. You can edit it.

    Work center type A work center type where a production task is fulfilled. It is populated from the selected work in progress document. You can select another work center type. The list of work center types is based on the data from the Work centers workplace.
    Work center A work center where a production task is fulfilled. It is populated from the selected work in progress document. You can select another work center. The work centers list depends on the selected work center type.
    Start date (under Actual) The start date and time reported by the production task assignee or a person responsible for managing production tasks.
    This date is optional when you create a production task. Enter the date when it is reported.
    Due date (under Actual) The end date and time reported by the production task assignee or a person responsible for managing production tasks.
    This date is optional when you create a production task. Enter the date when it is reported.
    Assignee An employee or a team of employees assigned to fulfill a production task. To learn more, see Assigning production tasks.
    Number A production task ID. It is automatically generated when you post the production task. You can edit it.
    You can find production tasks by ID in the Production tasks list.
    dated A production task creation date. It is automatically filled in when you post the production task. You can edit it.
    Company A company responsible for processing a production task.
    A list of companies is based on the Companies catalog.
    You can select another company if the Use multiple businesses accounting check box is selected in Settings > Company > Multiple businesses > Multi-business accounting.
    Operation An operation that a production task is required for. It is populated from the selected work in progress document. You can select another operation. The operations list includes operations from the selected work in progress document.
    An operation is followed by either of the following:
    green_arrow.png. Indicates that an operation is the last in the sequence specified in the bill of materials. This operation is the final step of a production process. The operation output is either a finished product or a semi-finished product required for another production process.
    grey_arrow.png. Indicates that an operation is not the last in the sequence specified in the bill of materials.
    Quantity (under Operation) The quantity of operations to include in a production task. It is populated from the selected work in progress document. You can enter another quantity.

    Note. You might edit the field values and then change your mind. In this case, you can quickly restore the values from the work in progress document. To do this, click next to the Work in progress field.

  5. Click Post and close.

The production task appears in the Production tasks list. Its status is Open.
