Question: Do 1C:Enterprise Platform has built in instant messaging functionality, if it has, how to setup and use it?
Answer: Yes, 1C:Enterprise Platform supports instant messaging between users not only within the same 1C database, but also between users spanning different 1C databases. This functionality is called the “Collaboration system”. The system is built directly into 1C:Enterprise Platform and it is in working order by default, it does not need any programming in the designer for it to function.
Before setting up the instant messaging in 1C databases, we have to first run the “1c-enterprise-client-application-agent” file as administrator, which is situated in the “ExtDst” directory of the folder where the platform is installed.
Afterwards, we login to our 1C database and choose “Collaboration system management” from the “All functions” dialog. If we haven’t already done it, the “Collaboration system management” requires us to register the current database to the collaboration system.
Once we register the current user to the collaboration system, “Conversations” tab appears, the user can exchange instant messages with other users on different topics.
With the current user having been registered to the collaboration system, selecting the “Collaboration system management” from the “All functions” dialog now brings the collaboration system settings.
