Based on feedback from 1C specialists, partners, and users, 1C Company has just released the latest version of the application platform: 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3. This brand new upgrade of this application development platform features many improvements in performance, developer tools, automated application testing, and report functionality. But 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3 primarily enhances the developer experience in regard to 1C:Enterprise support of mobile and cloud computing. With all these changes comes an overall improved user experience for developers, with no new training necessary since the general platform concepts have not changed. The following are some of the highlights of this new release:
1. Cloud technologies
One of the most important upgraded features of 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3 is the development of its cloud technologies. It boasts improved scalability, load balancing architecture, management of memory allocation and cluster tolerance. Easing the deployment of the server cluster in a virtual environment, the licensing service now allocates client and server software licenses. The new background infobase has been restructured decreasing the downtime needed for application updates and increasing its availability. Other advancements include secure SSL connections, background reconstructuring, and security profiles to test solution reliability and provide seamless Internet access. These enhanced cloud technologies will enable service providers and clients to readily deploy 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3 in cloud environments.
2. Mobile platform
The 1C:Enterprise mobile applications are designed for any devices that run Android or iOS. Once installed on a mobile device, these applications include the mobile platform and the application infobase, which includes the code executed on the mobile device and a database. Similar to standard applications, 1C mobile applications use the standard 1C:Enterprise tools and functionality in the same designer environment. Because of this, developers are still able to apply the same knowledge they already possess when working with mobile solutions on 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3.
3. New user interface
The most visible enhancement on 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3 is the new application user interface known as Taxi. It includes better navigation commands accessibility, default panels, workspace customization and favorites functionality. It improves the performance of the applications online and browsers access of mobile devices, while simplifying certain list and search settings. In addition, the platform now has language support available in Chinese and Azerbaijani.
4. Cross-platform support
With 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3 comes thin and thick client applications for Linux environments that application developers and infobase administrators work with. Cluster administration is now able to be performed on any Windows and Linux computers once the new administration server and the new command-line tool are implemented. Previous versions of 1C:Enterprise required a dedicated Windows computer to administer a server cluster.
5. New license type for corporate customers
Along with the standard licensing options, a corporate license is now available in the new 1C:Enterprise 8.3.3. Corporate users and certain companies that grant access to the 1C:Enterprise applications in Internet service mode require special features. This licensing option is specifically designed for clients that need to take advantage of newer cloud technologies.
